hello, i recently got a galaxy book 2, and would love it if someone could help me with getting this fantastic program to work on it. i checked before buying the book 2 if it even supports krita and the site claims it does, but its currently not working properly by way of serious lag and even completely freezing up. any suggestions?
What do you intend to use your tablet for? If there isn’t a version of Krita for Android OS, you could consider installing Ubuntu Touch as your operating system. (https://ubuntu-touch.io/get-ut)
I forgot to ask if your computer was a tablet or a chromebook. If your computer is a chromebook, then regular Ubuntu should suffice if it doesn’t have a touchscreen and digitizer pen.
It looks like there is a beta version of Krita for Android OS being developed. I suggest you check the following thread (More Toolbar options to enable touchscreen workflow)
ooh ooh I know this one! I’ve been seeing stuff like this a lot because of my day job as tech support. (caution, this might get a bit technical)
I just did some looking, it looks like the Galaxy Book 2 is one of the few newer Windows laptops/tablets running on ARM architecture/hardware. These are a weird beast; they only natively run Windows software compiled for ARM architecture, which is a very limited selection of software. They can run 32 bit software, but it takes a performance hit because they are effectively emulating 32bit Windows, and your mileage may vary how well each program runs. This emulation does not yet support 64 bit applications, and the occasional 32 bit app just wont work.
It is entirely possible that Krita for Windows does not run because it’s too complex for the emulation that Windows 10 for ARM is doing.
If that’s the case, then if you’re lucky, some brave soul here might be willing/able to investigate recompiling Krita for Windows on ARM, bypassing the emulation issues enirely.
I am confident this can be done, since Krita for Android is available for ARM architecture. But since I’m not sure this has been done yet, making this happen might need some time, and some testing before it just works on your machine.
