How can I fix the brushes (including eraser) in Krita? Ive checked other treads here and on the other sites on the similar problem, but can’t fix my brushes even though I’ve tried many various ways to fix them.
The problem is that when im trying to draw a line with any brush (including eraser) it doesn’t draw anything. Im sure I have enough storage (the drawing I managed to draw before the lags started is 168.6 MB), and before my brushes went off everything worked normally. Ive checked the tablet performance, it works perfectly. As for the brushes, Ive tried drawing in the other file in Krita and they work well, only lag when it comes to the one exact file.
Im drawing on Mac, using 2000 x 2000 canvas, have 6 layers, 2 brushes (basic 5 and eraser).
Hello @huh, and welcome to the forum!
Which version of Krita are you using, we need the full 3-digit number, and from where did you obtain it?
Which version of macOS are you using?
Do these brushes only not work in one certain file, or is this misbehavior global and true for any file you try to draw/paint in?
If it is only a certain file, then try “Select” >> “Deselect” or use the keyboard-shortcut CTRL + Shift + A
If it is not a forgotten or overseen selection, then please do upload a screenshot from your whole Krita window, do not cut off anything from it, we need even the status bar and the title bar, also, please show your Tool Options Docker in that screenshot and the Layers Docker needs to show at least the layer where you want to paint on. The file must not exceed 3MB in size.

im using 5.1.5 version of Krita, as far as I can remember I obtained it from the official Krita site. Im using macOS Monterey(12.7.6)
Yes, these brushes do not work only in this one file.
Ive tried selecting before, it works with selecting, but as soon as I turn it off, the brushes lag again.
You have locked your layers, unlock them and you can paint again:
In case we need further screenshots in the future, then please show everything we ask you for, this makes it easier to help.

No no, I know about the locks, I’ve locked them just in case before taking the screenshot
It sounds like you already know that you have to manually hit ‘deselect’ after making a selection, so it’s not that…
In Tool Options, is the stabilizer on?
Turning off the stabilizer will reduce or eliminate brush lag (the stabilizer’s job is to add post-processing to the stroke which intentionally creates lag) but it doesn’t explain why you can’t paint.
Since the inability to paint is restricted to a single file, you might consider sharing that file (if it’s not confidential) on a file sharing service so someone can look at it.
okay, thank you, where can I share it for the further inspect?
Here’s a tutorial on how to do it using Google Drive.
Also, try upgrade to latest Krita version 5.2.3
https://krita.org/en/download/
okay, thanks, Ill try it
tried that, the problem remains the same, I think there’s something with the file itself
So please provide the .kra file by using some kind of file sharing service or website.
If you don’t have a Google account then you can use ufile.io which is free for anonymous 30 day file sharing.
okay Ill try that, but I dont really have enough time due to the deadline on the drawing, I’ve figured out another way to get around the problem from the side, just to have an opportunity to finish the drawing
As soon as I finish the drawing I can share the file to find a solution just to figure out a way to actually solve the problem in case it will happen again
And thanks for the help again, Ill share the file as soon as I can
