How can I share my files on another computer not on my Wi-Fi? so i can work on another computer as well?

can you make a Krita account to do this?

Hi

There’s no “Krita cloud service” and then no “Krita acount”

If you want to share your kra file between computers, you can for example:

  • Use a USB key if it’s possible
  • Use a third party service (like google stuff or any other cloud service on which you can upload/download files with a private account)

Hi @Grum999
thanks so much for the reply. Are you saying that if i got a USB chip (the ones that you just plug into the computer) I would be able to plug it into any computer that had Krita, and i’d be able to access my files? sorry if I misunderstood what you replied

When plugged on a computer, a USB key, USB Chip, or flash drive is a removable storage on which you can copy/paste files like you usually do on your computer, when you copy or move files from a folder to another folder.

And if Krita is installed on a computer, then you can open a .kra file directly from USB key or, copy files from USB key to computer and open it from computer.

What kind of computer do you have?
Windows? MacOS?

The “another” computer is Windows, MacOS too?

Hi @Grum999 thanks again for the reply, my computer is windows and the computers i plan to use the USB chip on is also a windows. So, say I used the USB and did my artwork on this other computer, when I go to save it would i just save it onto the USB? would I then be able to plug the USB into my own computer, and continue the drawing?
sorry for the replies, I just want to make double-sure.

Yes

Yes

Normally you should be able to plug USB key on both computers.

On your computer it’s sure it will work.

On the another computer, it will depend.
By default it will be OK, but if it’s a public computer in school/university/library or a computer from a big company they sometimes block access to USB key for security reason.

But it’s the simplest way to share file between to computer; especially if files are big.

If you can’t use USB key but have internet connection, you can use a cloud drive (google drive, dropbox, microsoft one drive, …) but for this it’s recommended to have very good internet connection if you have huge drawings.

These days I “abuse” my Android smartphone as USB pen drive :stuck_out_tongue:
I don’t know if Windows needs extra software, but at least KDEs file manager (Dolphin) supports file transfer out of box.
And if there is WiFi, I don’t need the USB cable thanks to KDE Connect.

I sometimes use telegram as a low key cloud storage for unimportant files I want to take somewhere :flushed:.

Yes, I forgot that some smartphone can be used as external usb drive
On windows it normally doesn’t need any drivers, drive is automatically mounted and accessible.

It’s been a while I didn’t used my smartphone because it’s sloooooow, and nowadays, they’re not recognized as a USB drive but as a MTP device, that is not recognized on Krusader for example (and as I don’t use Dolphin or Nautilus…)

And according to smartphone brand, I think you have some configuration to let the phone being considered as an external mass storage device I think.

I now have a 64GB SSD usb key that is really fast and don’t use my phone anymore now
