How can I turn off the hints popping up frequently?

Is there a way to disable the hints that pop up frequently when the cursor rests somewhere for more than a second or so? I have searched through the settings and the internet but did not find anything to help me.

Background: I have just discovered krita and I am quite excited about it. I want to use it for some educational videos to draw little graphs for explanations. I record my drawing process by screen capture and want to show it in the video sped up by a factor of 20 or so. Now, one problem I face is that there are this (otherwise very useful) hints popping up all the time when my cursor rests on something for more than a second. For instance, if my cursor rests on one of the layer entries in the layer docker, more detailed infos about the layer pop up. That is very annoying to me, since it often reaches into the drawing area and spoils the video.

Hello and welcome to the forum

I don’t think there is a way to do that but I’m not sure.

I’ve found that tool tips usually don’t appear if I’m using a stylus because I can’t keep the stylus tip still for long enough to activate them. If I try to keep it still (and I have to make an effort) then I can activate them.

Maybe if you used a stylus instead of a mouse?

If you use a stylus in the Layers docker then once you keep it still for long enough it will always show any layer thumbnails until you move it out of the layers for about a second.

There is a setting to disable the layer thumbnail popups.
Go to Settings > configure krita and you will find this setting in the display tab.

I don’t think you can disable other tool tips which you get when you hover over UI elements.

Thanks a lot for the fast reply. I actually use a stylus, but when I move it away from the tablet, the cursor just stays where it is and then leads to the pop up.

Wow, you saved my day!!! Thanks a lot.

I think that’s fine.

It seems you can get prevent the layers thumbnails, as noted by @raghukamath, which will be very convenient for you. For the rest, you’ll have to develop a habit of moving the cursor to a ‘dead’ place before you lift the stylus from the tablet

Yes indeed. Thanks.

Although might be worth a suggestion to be able to turn if off in general, not only for layers.
