I seem to have maxed out with this. What’s something I can do to go further.
Aside from using a ruler, use your whole arm instead of just drawing with the wrist. Takes some practice but is absolutely worth it. Especially a good skill to have when working on big or wet canvases were you cant rest your palm on the surface.

Its a practice thing. There is also nothing wrong with using a ruler.
Except for it looks unnatural.
Then ask yourself for what do you need them then?
And get yourself a bendable ruler too, next time you’re shopping for art supplies.

Calling it a “flexible curve ruler” may give you a better idea of what it does.
Are you asking us if your ruler is made of wood?
