How do I transform part of a vector layer?

I have two separate objects on the same vector layer.
On that same layer, I’m using Transform Tool and don’t know how to transform one object instead of the whole layer.

If you use the Transform Tool on a vector layer then the transform action is applied to the entire canvas content, even if you make a selection region around the vector shape.

You need to select the vector objects individually, using the Select Shapes tool, then edit their vector properties or then use the Edit Shapes tool or use the Transform Tool on separate layers that contain each separate vector object.

(Edit - AhabGreybeard beat me to the post, You can basically skip reading this, lol.)

You’d need to use the Select Shapes Tool (looks like a white cursor arrow), to make a transformation. However, this limits the type of transformation you can make (for example, you wouldn’t be able to apply a skew, as you would with the Transform tool). At that point, you’d have two options. Move the object to be transformed to another vector layer, where you could then use the transform tool on it (because it’d be alone on the layer). Or, you could use the Edit Shapes Tool to move the individual vector points around.
