How do you manage filter layers/other layer modes

i sometimes use filter layers to do make tweaks while still trying to paint under the filter layers. I don’t want to merge filter layers so i can pick and choose the mood i want.

when i group the filter layers together it changes the effect which is weird since when i do the same thing in photoshop it works as expected. i can group a set of layers, and still being able to see how it affects the whole image and i can toggle the group visibility.

since grouping doesn’t work, how do you quickly toggle visibility of multiple layers?
in photoshop i can click and drag the visibility icons to hide/show multiple layers, but seems that’s not a thing in krita, i end up clicking individual layers which is a pain.

i would like to improve this workflow, is there a krita specific thing that i’m missing?
thanks

If I’m not mistaken, Photoshop only has pass through groups, so they are only a tool to organize layer, not something that affects the result.
In Krita, you need to explicitly enable pass through if you want that, otherwise they are basically a nested layer stack.

missed this. how do i do this? and can i make it the default behavior?

This shows where to enable pass through:

I don’t think you can make it default, nor do I see a separate action for it (like the “Quick Clipping Group” action that as added not too long ago).
