How to animate a rgb fade in krita?

Literally this, how to do in Krita

or something I can use on Linux?

In photoshop you can do it via tweening.
I learned that Krita has an animation curves docker so I tried to use it on a filter mask, or colorize mask, but it didn’t seem to do anything

The masks don’t have an alpha channel so you can’t actually use Opacity variation to affect them.
The only thing you can do is animate the mask greyscale value and even then you’ll not get the effect you want. That is because the mask value is used to perform mixing of the original layer image with the filtered image. That gives you muddy colours or even grey if the colour change is more than a small amount.
When I did animated colour changes I had to use small incremental changes from colour A to colour B then a separate colour B to colour C , etc , etc series where there was only a small difference between one colour and the next, of 30 degrees hue shift between each colour.

I don’t know of any other way to do it.

Try olive editor or kdenlive or synfig too has tweening

you can definitely do this with key framing opacity in animation curves. i just tried a quick 3 color experiment, 3 layers with different colors, and key framed the opacity to fade out of one color and into the next, making sure to overlap key frames enough to preserve 100% opacity overall. the only issue is if you’re really specific about the colors during the fade, that would take some fine tuning. i should have exported it to show here, but that wouldn’t have shown the process anyway.

ok, re-recreated this really quick, just to be less confusing, or more clear…

Regardless of how to do it. You should NOT do this effect as everyone with Epilepsy will have seizures and people with epilepsy are common only thing that varies is how strong it is.

There is a reason why this sort of effect was banned from TV and video games! I don’t get people try to revive this effect to harm people.

I have an epileptic friend and he said not every type of epilepsy is affected, this effect doesn’t hurt him at all.
Regardless of that, I have all the rights to know how to animate a color fade and all I wanted in this case was make a fading rgb background for an avatar. Not fast, not strong, just rgb.
Besides, if I wanted to hurt people I would just do a 1 frame strobe and spam it around, or some other idiotic thing like that. Easier to do as well.

Good idea

bit tricky but it does the job well enough, thanks

I am glad your friend is not affected because I am sure not safe in this thread. how do I block this damn thread. so DON’T @ ME!

Posting a method to show how to hurt people is unkind. I understand you’re not saying that you actually intend to hurt people, but it’s still unkind to respond in this way.

I sent a message to the other forum member by private message so that they don’t have to expose themselves to the flashing display that bothers them.
