I downloaded a brush pack as an *.abr file. Marts_Head… It comes with 15 different heads, I guess they are stamps or shapes.
They show up in the Predefined tab of the brush editor, as brush tips. I have been reading multiple posts about abr files, and I am thinking if they show in the editor, they are good to go, without using abrMate.
After selecting one, setting the opacity to the max, and closing the brush editor, the brush shape shows as my cursor, but I can barely see any marks on the page.
How do I turn them into presets? I don’t know what to do to “assign” them.
It is relatively simple. In Krita, open the Brush Editor via F5, select a Stamp Brush Preset which is using the Pixel-Engine, like: z) Stamp Floor z) Stamp Bokeh z) Stamp Grass z) Stamp Leaves
In the left row of options, select Brush Tip and right beside it select one of the heads you want to assign from the Predefined area.
The only thing I can not really help you with, from the distance, is to find good working settings for your heads, because I simply don’t know your use-case and your expectations.
But if I had to guess, then I would begin with z) Stamp Leaves. When you are satisfied with the way the individual head stamps brushes you created work the way you would like them to work, you can click on the Button Save New Brush Preset and save your brush under a new name and if you want with an icon created by yourself, or using one of the other options offered to create your icon for the brush you want to save.
That’s it, in short.
Right. @AhabGreybeard, I am using Krita 5.2.3 on windows 11. Only reason for windows is my Cintriq 16 tablet is not fully supported in Linux. Sad.
Using your advice, @Michelist, my new brush sort of works. I can see the stamp, but it is very faint. Opacity “curve” (pressure) is pretty much a flat line at the top of the grid, pen setting are enabled. What else should I look for to make it stand out?
The orientation is completely random also, I tried to set the rotation to drawing angle, and rotation, but that didn’t help. Since they are heads, I would like them to be oriented such that the neck is down. Any pointers on how to fix that would make my day.
Up 'til now, any freestyle heads I do are “Some Ugly”, so I am looking for cheats to fake it. The plan was to stamp the head on one layer, kind of trace it on a new layer, and work from there. Upside down and invisible fails to qualify as a cheat.
The brush pack is
Mart’s_Head_CheatBrushPack.abr, which I found on the krita-artists.org web site.
One other question for @Michelist, do you ever get time to draw? I have probably read a thousand or your good helper posts.
