Ok so, basically i think i got some sort of virus. I got 16gb og RAM ddr4 but still somehow i’l always on 60 to 80% use. I checked on Task Manager but the only thing it shows me is that i somhow seem to have like 20 thousand small things each eating like 1 mb.
So anyways just to be sure i’ve decided to to a cleanup. I jsut wanted to be sure if there was a reliable method of getting all my stuff through to the new windows. Please and thank you to all.
Most resources are in %appdata%\Krita, in %localapdata%, there are additional Krita config files for example for display settings. But when your computer really is infected chances are that all the krita files are too so it would not be a good idea to take them over or they could infect your new system again. In cases like that it’s better to make a clean install even when it hurts.
Is that for real? like, all i tried to do was try to install a cracked version of a PDF reader. I think the anme was Icecream PDF. It was taking too long to start so i kinda just re-started my PC when it started using too much ram. Also i REALLY would like to avoid losing all of my .kra files
Is it maybe doable to use something like VirusTotal to check the files to be sur eif they’re infected or not?
When I suspect a system to be infected I wipe it and restore my files from a backup I can assume to be safe. Most malware will probably try to infect as many files it can (usually files that get executed in some way) to prevent itself from getting removed. You can try scanning for viruses, but most virus scanners I know can not “uninfect” a file, they quarantine the whole thing. If you want to take the risk or not, that is on you to decide.
However installing and configuring Krita is comparatively easy and quick to do. I would be more worried about all my paintings.
As Takiro said, save your precious KRA-Files! And of course all other files of worth for you! So, bills, photos, (official) documents, etc., better think twice what is important for you, because once formatted is not worth to restore with the risk of being infected.
For instance, you can copy your pictures to a thumb drive (USB-Stick), TransFlash- / SD-card, USB-Disk, or you register with some free cloud space providers (depending on the amount of space you need and the speed of your internet connection, if you can only upload at speeds below 10MBit/s and have gigabytes to upload then forget it, it would probably take much too long) to save your files to them for the time needed to completely wipe your PC and install Windows new after you formatted your HDDs/SSDs.
And after you have saved your files to another location, you can set up your PC from scratch, you should search for an Anti-Virus-Software that is able to disinfect files instead of only quarantining or deleting them. Unfortunately, there are only very few that can do this, I think Malwarebytes was among them, but you have to ask search engines for help to discover such programs.
You can also search at lifewire, an online PC-Software Magazine, it is worth a look because they offer lots of tests and good suggestions on all kind of software, tell their pros and cons and are mostly very reliable - use their search in the top right of the site. You should not touch your exported files before you have an Antivirus Software installed on your newly set up PC, to be sure to not get back the infection by copying your files back on your PC, you should scan every single file before you “touch it again”!
And VirusTotal is not good to scan masses of files, it is good to check single files or at best a few files, also they have a file-size limit for not registered users.

Edit: Every file can be infected, but most won’t be infected because some are simpler targets than other.
We’re not really a general computer help desk forum. I mean, this is a kinda huge thing. I wrote earlier where Krita configs and resources are (I still recommend reinstalling Krita becasue of permission and paths being different, perhaps). You can turn your resources into bundles if you have any custom ones and transfer these bundles. And of course don’t forget your kra files. If you want to carry them over or not, (I guess you don’t really have a choice) is something only you can decide.
