How to change the line thickness in a completed drawing [multibrush tool]

Hi everyone! I’m Angela from Italy. It’s a pleasure to be here and know I can get support in the process of learning to use Krita.

I apologize in advance if there are other posts on this topic: I looked for them, and I haven’t been able to find them. I am a true beginner, and I’m using Krita for ten days. Prior, I never used software to draw. Only to make the idea

I have created some mandalas learning by myself. Now I have many drawings, and I acknowledge that, while exploring, I have changed the many times brushes settings (Hard Pencil). Is there a way to change the pencil tip (to enlarge the diameter), I mean, the thickness of the line, once you have finished the drawing? I hope I can fix it. Almost every draw is different from the other, and I would like to have the same stroke. My goal is also to have good printing.

Some information, if useful: I use Windows 10; each time I create a new document A4 300 dpi, 3000x3000 pixels.

I also wish I knew something about exporting them and vectorization for good printing quality, but I will write a new post about it.

I’m attaching two mandalas to show you what I mean. The second one’s stroke is thinner.

Thank you so much!

Angela

I didn’t manage to figure out how to do it in Krita, but in Gimp you can right click on the layer and select “alpha to selection”, then go to the select menu and choose “grow”. Then take a big brush and paint over all selected.

Edit: Found it in Krita… it’s Select → Select Opaque

Then Select → Grow selection

Thank you @Bleke ! :+1:

Thank you for your reply and for taking the time to search for a solution!

No problem!

If it did solve your problem you could click the little checkmark at the bottom of my post to indicate that it is the solution. Or you could wait and see if a better solution appears later.

You can also add a layer style, then pick stroke. Set opacity to 100% and you can set whatever size you want and it will be non-destructive and can be changed at any time.

Thank you @KnowZero , I tried and it works! @Bleke I tried your solution too, and I have found all functions you have mentioned, I can select and grow the line (1 px for instance), then click ok, and… nothing happens. I saved, closed, and reopened the file, but nothing has changed.
It remains selected, too.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong. When I choose “select” it gives me more options (see the screenshot). Which one do I have to choose?

Thank you!

You forgot the ‘paint over everything with a large brush’ step. Now you just created a selection and made it bigger.

Edit: I would use ‘replace’. The other options are if you already have a selection and want to add or subtract from it.

Sorry @Bleke , I forgot to mention it. I tried to draw over the selection, but the brush seems deactivated. It doesn’t work. I mean, it doesn’t trace a line, nor over the selection or elsewhere on the canvas…

Is “paint over everything” a specific function? I’m sorry, it’s probable I ask silly questions

Not sure why that might be… in the screenshot you have an eraser brush selected, but I don’t really think you would use that for this task.

No, paint over everything is something you do manually.

  @Bleke no, actually I didn’t use the eraser
But, good news! It was something (I try here and there  ) about border selection. I stumbled across the color palette and saw that I was coloring inside the shape (first time trying that)
Now, it works. Thank you!
