How to darken a light pencil sketch layer ?

I have a pencil sketch layer that is very faint and I wish to darken it. How do I do that ?

I’ve been reading this tutorial, but the technique Color Adjustment filter described isn’t working for me. It will lighten the layer it I grab the left-most handle and drag up but no kind of manipulation will darken it. Am I doing something wrong or is it broken? I’m on Android.

Try the levels filter

You can also try gradient mapping - choose black as your foreground color and use the first gradient on the list as the map. This will turn the white in the layer transparent, leaving the outline as the only thing left. From here, you will choose the color adjustment filter and change the channel to ‘alpha’. Drag the top-right dot to the left until you reach the darkness you desire, and you’re done! This method only works on black and white pictures, however.

This may make your picture jagged, as it is a very light picture. If the levels filter doesn’t work either, I’d recommend using G’mic-qt’s filters to smooth it out - most have the keyword ‘smooth’ in them and are also in the Repair section.

Thank you both for your suggestions. Neither works for me unfortunately. I will try on a computer. perhaps this is an Android bug.

Nevermind! Gradient Map followed by Colour Levels It does work. I neglected to choose Alpha channel to operate on. Thank you!! I’ve been trying to solve this for days.
