How to Draw Finn Step-by-Step Sketching Inking & Coloring with Traditional Pencils Complete Parts1-3

I’ve finally brought all the pieces together! This is the complete, full-length process of my Finn the Human study in Krita covering everything from the initial constructive sketches and clean linework to the traditional colored pencil texture.

Looking back at this entire project, it feels important to share why I do this. Even though I share my work online, I primarily do this for myself as a way to sharpen and refine my skills. For me, digital art is a form of therapy; Krita acts like a journal or a personal sketchbook where I can visually track my progress. Occasionally, I just draw for the pure fun of it and share that joy with anyone who’s interested.

We live in a time where emerging technologies offer incredible shortcuts. I’m well aware that I could do so much more by incorporating AI whether that’s generating animated versions or instantly creating unique characters. However, choosing to sit down and put in the manual hours remains a deeply therapeutic practice for me. It’s my way of keeping both my mind active and my personal craft alive.

Explaining this step by step journey has been a fantastic way to reinforce what I’m teaching myself as a student. Since this is the complete look at the study, I would absolutely love to hear your comprehensive feedback, technical critiques, or thoughts on the overall workflow.

You can watch the full, uninterrupted process from start to finish here:

Thank you for walking alongside me through this therapeutic creative experiment!

I’ve noticed they’ve been posting their drawings a lot lately. That’s great news it means drawing isn’t dead after all.

I’ve changed the category of your topic to Resources: Tutorials because that will be helpful for people who are looking for tutorial topics.

Thank you for moving the topic to the Tutorials section! It makes perfect sense since it has a strong breakdown/guide aspect, and it will definitely be helpful for those looking for tutorials.

I was actually getting ready to showcase the final, completed version of the project in the ‘Finished Projects’ section as well. This way, the technical discussion can stay organized here, while the final render/output can be displayed in the showcase. I’ll make sure to link this tutorial thread in that post so people can easily find the detailed breakdown. Thanks again for your help!
