How to easily create SVG icon or logo in Krita

Hi guys.

In this tutorial video I will show you how to create a simple vector logo or icon in Krita. Then export the logo to SVG format. We will create a logo or icon that looks like the Linux Red Hat logo. But with some differences, of course. We’re going to make the shape of the hat simpler. And we will also add a fire element behind the hat.

Besides the video, I’m also providing a text version of this tutorial on the Krita Tutorials website. You can use the link below to check it out.

If you are Indonesian, I also wrote another written version in Bahasa Indonesia. Here is the link.

I hope this tutorial is useful.

Great tutorial! In the past I made the most complex vector objects in Inkscape, then exported them to Krita. I’m now moving on to making them directly in Krita. Only the patterns I still prefer to vectorize in Inkscape, more as a matter of habit.

One detail: I usually use the Fineliner brush a lot, with 2 pixels in diameter, to outline my drawings. But if I make an outline on a vector layer (for example, if I want to make a straight outline or a perfect curve) the outline appears to come out a little thicker. I don’t know if it’s just me…

To solve the problem, I reduce the brush diameter a bit (1.5 pixels) before tracing on the vector layer. This for the Fineliner brush: if I use another thickness or another brush, I have to test it first.
