How to import gamut masks?

Hi all,

I really like the gamut masks function. In my prior version of Krita, I made and saved many masks. When the newest Krita version came, I decided to buy in Windows Store, to support development and get automatic updates. But after installing the Windows Store version, it didn’t automatically include my resources from the prior Krita. I searched in Windows Explorer and determined that this is bc Windows Store apps get automatically saved into locations that are not easily accessible to the user. I guess Microsoft does this for security and to prevent users from making modifications, but the result is that I can’t simply paste resources into the Krita folders like I used to do.

To use my old brushes, bundles, & patterns in the Windows Store version of Krita 4.2.9, I manually added them with the “Manage Resources” function. However, there is no option to import gamut masks. My gamut masks’ file format is “.kgm” and no other program opens them. I don’t want to re-make the masks. Is there a way to import my gamut mask .kgm files in the Windows Store version of Krita?

Thank you!

When you navigate to Settings > Manage Resources and click the Open Resources Folder, you can’t just drop the .kgm file into gamutmasks folder?
Windows won’t allow you to copy file into this directory?

Maybe you’ll just need administrator rights? I’m not a windows user, but you can try something like this tutorial if you can’t copy this file.

There’s no specific option button to Import Gamut Masks but you can import them as part of a bundle.
If you Create New Bundle then you can choose Types -> Gamut Masks and then select the gamut masks from Available and copy then over to Selected and so make a bundle that has them.
Then you can use Import Bundles for any other krita installation to get them loaded in.
