i tried to important .myb by ‘import resource’ but got error. I am using krita 5. what folder should i put them in?
What was the error? And what was the brush; maybe it was the brush with those new features that libmypaint, and Krita, don’t support (pigment painting, patterns etc.).
You need to put the .myb file and the .myb.png file (for the thumbnail) in the paintoppresets docker.
did you mean paintopresent folder? i could not find the docker. sadly, the brushes are not there still.
Where did you download those brushes and what was the lowest MyPaint version supported? It might be that they are only for the latest MyPaint, 2.0 and above, while Krita can only read MyPaint brushes from lower versions.
Can you tell what the error message said? Something like “cannot read the format”? Or something else?
i tried the new build (wit h the new fancy icon )
and placed .myb and .png into paintopresent folder and no brushes on my side.
“Cannot be opened as resources”, weird, I checked it and there is a problem, I’m adding it to the list of things we need to fix Thanks for writing here about it. I can’t fix it today, most probably, but I’ll try to fix it next week.
You can try to remove the database and start Krita again, but no guarantees
time to add a new backup then!
I don’t know if this has to do with the importing problem but the TONE mypaint brushes won’t work correctly in Krita! They was created with an extremely old version of mypaint 0.9 and is not compatible with programs that use the mypaint brush engine library. They will only work directly in MyPaint.
This is what the .myb file from one of the tone brushes look like. It won’t work correctly in Krita because the format isn’t readable.
This is the format the .myb should be in to be readable by Krita
I have been working on a little project with the mypaint brushes that I think I’ll finish by the time the beta of Krita 5.0 is released. Apart of it I’ve been not only converting the tone brushes with MyPaint to be readable in Krita but renaming the brushes to be easier to search for and better organized.
Note that an utility for that already exists, written by Lain, I can’t say for sure it’s working but it might be worth checking out. GitHub - LainFenrir/krita-preset-renamer: A set of scripts to rename krita presets.
thank you for telling me this!! now i know why the brushes will not work.
Thank you for the link! Does this rename Krita presents so that the name also changes when it’s loaded inside Krita? The batch renaming feature will be really useful
