How to Move Specific Selected Part while inside a group

I want to move the face with the ears, which is in the line art layer, and move the highlights, in the highlight layer, at the same time.

But, when I select in the highlights layer, selecting the face, it only moves the highlights.

Do you want to move a portion of the layer or move the entire layers. For moving entire layer you can select both the layers in the layer stack by holding shift button and use the move tool to move them.

I selected the face with the eye highlights. I want to move only that portion.

After drawing your selection around the face with the ears you have two options:

  • Switch to the ‘Group 4’ layer and use the transform/move tool
  • Switch to both ‘highlights’ and ‘lineart’ at the same time by holding shift and clicking both layers in the layer panel. Then you can use the transform/move tool.

For me at least, neither of these work to transform a selection on two layers. If I select the group layer, the selection is ignored and the entire contents of the layers in the group are moved. If I select two layers, only the selected part in the layer I selected last is moved.

I don’t personally use the move tool, so that may be a limitation of that. Try the transform tool instead?

That functionality was also added relatively recently, so make sure you’re on Krita >=5.1

That seems like a bug perhaps? I’ve been using the transform tool on selections (using the group layer) for as long as I can remember.

Could you share a screenshot of what you are trying?

You’re right, the transform tool does work on a group. I am not able to transform a selection when just selecting two ungrouped layers, though, even with the transform tool.

You might want to vote for this. Ability to Transform multiple layers without having to put them in a group layer

I’ve tried option 1 and it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried option 2 and it doesn’t work either. Do I have hold shift in a specific order?

Are you sure you used the transform tool (ctrl-t)? That should work.

I have both the highlights and line art layers selected at once. I selected the face and it only moves the face, the highlighted eyes remain don’t move.

Edit: I am using the transform tool

You should have the two layers in a group and select the group, not the layers directly. Then it should work.

I put the highlights layer and the line art layer in a group. I selected the face.
I moved the selection while on group 5. all of the lineart layer moves instead of the selected area.

I moved the selection while in lineart layer and only the face moved.

Edit: Group 5 is the new group

I have been using the move tool instead of the transform tool while on the group layer. Thank you for you suggestion.
