How to remove the background from drawings

I know i’ve seen this kind of question before but they don’t seem to quite cover my specific issue. So I have a drawing and I want to remove the background so when I say upload to Redbubble for printing on t-shirts or making stickers I just have the image an no white or black rectangle.

I want it to save like this

(Both images are screenshots of Discord messages)

I’m not sure if me saving it as a jpeg is the issue or what but no matter how manny times or ways I remove the background in Krita the save file/image has a visable background.
Now I have been getting around this by sending it to myself via discord downloading it on my phone then removing the background in Sketchbook then sending it back and using that file to upload it. But this is tedious and can mess with the quality.

Yeah, jpg doesn’t support transparency. You want png for that, and enable the alpha/transparency checkbox in the export dialog.

OMG Thank you. Sorry if my question was silly, I’m not very knowledgble about save formats or anything really in digital art terminology. Like I have no idea what an alpha or mask or anything is or means.
