Hello, can someone please help me? I need to reset a brush — I edited and overwrote the previous one, so I’ve lost it and I really need it.
I don’t know what to do; I’ve been looking through the resource folders, but I can’t figure out how to bring back the original brush and delete the one I created.
I don’t know why it’s so complicated.
If you had named the brush preset you want to restore, I could give you exact advice, so I can only tell you the principle. Always when overwriting a brush preset it gets a suffix, so if your brush preset is named brush.kpp it gets the suffix .0001 and will then be named brush.0001.kpp, and if you change it a second time the count will be set one up so it is brush.0002.kpp, and so on. You have to delete those presets with the suffix, but only those from the brush preset you want to restore.
You’ll find these brushes in the folder “paintoppresets”.
If your brush preset was part of a bundle, it will be a little different. Then you need to look for a folder named after the name of the bundle from which you changed a resource. So the bundle Krita_3_Default_Resources.bundle will create a folder Krita_3_Default_Resources.bundle_modified, and Krita_4_Default_Resources.bundle will create the folder Krita_4_Default_Resources.bundle_modified, and so on, inside these folders you have to browse into the folder paintoppresets and there you have to delete the brush preset brush.0001.kpp corresponding to your overwritten brush preset, and of course also possible brush.0002.kpp and brush.0003.kpp brushes.
If you have further questions, feel free to ask.
By the way, here you see why it is always the better solution to create a new brush preset from an existing preset instead of overwriting the source preset you manipulate.

Ok, thanks, I’ll try the first thing you suggested to see if I can restore it.
