Still a novice so I just want to make sure the perspective is alright & the idea of it being a cave setting comes off. Think it would look better without the ceiling & stalactites? Should I move the character to the right?

A cave is a pretty difficult thing to draw imo. I found this example where the artist has managed to convey the inside of a cave with a few simple lines,
See how he has made the walls of the cave from irregular half ovals? Also note how he uses overlapping to indicate depth,
While your drawing is good in itself, there’s not much thats says ‘cave’ to me except the stalactites. Without them it could just as well be an outdoor scene.
As for the placement of your character, I think it would be best not to have him or her in the middle of the picture. A bit off center usually looks more interesting.
Understandable since there is a lot of open space in the background. I agree with that, I think i want to move them more to the left & further back
