Hi guys, fellow colleagues, and passionate artists!
Hey, let me share with you some of my studies. I’ve been diving into anatomy, especially the Loomis and Reilly methods. But instead of just memorizing random lines from charts I found on Google or in books, I decided to take a different approach.
First, I made my own study of anatomy and head proportions. I really tried to internalize the features and understand them deeply. And voilà, once I did that, seeing the Reilly and Loomis heads broken down into planes made total sense. It felt like the pieces of the puzzle finally came together.
I’d like to share with you my actual process of drawing a head in planes, supported by anatomical knowledge and an understanding of form in space. I’m really enjoying the journey—deepening my knowledge, improving my skills, planning better, and seeing real results.
Hopefully, it can be useful or inspiring to someone out there. If you have any questions or feedback, I’d be more than happy to hear it!
Thanks, and stay well!
Have fun with your drawing!

I am still working on human head, breaking it down into simple planes and keep practicing. Understanding the form and proportions- Based on anatomy I am getting to here:
I have more detailed break down available on my website tr79.com

I’m so happy for you to have discovered a technique that works so well for you! Facial/head anatomy is so important and tricky. Thanks so much for sharing what you worked out!
Hey! Thanks for your kind words and encouragement! I would say: discipline, planning, execution, and focusing on one thing at a time. I’ve combined all the knowledge I’ve studied so far, which has brought me to this point.

After another study and practice of forms and anatomy I am having really fun and am being excited about having knowledge of planes and anatomy how much you can already do with it. I broke it down again to simple planes, studied feature and designed this guy

I’m looking for any kind of feedback, comments, or thoughts you might have when you look at my image. What you’re seeing is my attempt to draw the head of an older male after studying and trying to improve my skills.
I’ve been working on breaking down anatomy into simpler shapes, and now I’m focusing on understanding how fat tissues and muscles are structured—so I can design and experiment more confidently with head construction.
I know I don’t yet have a strong foundation in how fat and muscles work, and I think that shows in the image. This part feels unclear, not simple, and not solid yet.
Aside from that, do you have any other feedback or suggestions? That would be very helpful. Thanks a lot!
