I guess, some demon worshipper at fb got offended.
Well, I can just make another one. But than that praticular account have so many of my childhood drawing that i scanned long time ago stored inside. I saved it there thinking it would be save on the internet (at that time i didn’t even have laptop too).
But this case reminded me once again. At the end of the day. You are using internet is just you playing on someone else computer.
Many file hosting site has come and gone (together with my files), many service can just BAN you for any reason, and companies can one day suddenly change it’s terms of service.
This site too, one day would probably shut down. So. . .remember to keep backup. Backup that you have control of.
To be honest Facebook is trash, see it as a chance to leave it, but you can always try to appeal and get your post reviewed by a human instead of AI or whatever automated system they use to flag posts.
Perhaps it’s time for an own small homepage?
To this day I don’t understand how anyone sees file uploads as actual backups. Especially uploading images to something like Facebook which will convert and edit the image for their site so you never get your original back.
It is, but people who are still there matter. To appeal it asked me to send pic and ID, and yes. I didn’t go throu wih it. No way, i’m sending those thing to zucc.
For backup, it was easy and familiar and sometimes. It was the only thing someone know. Just like my sister who always post her photos to fb because it would be forever be there.
But the idea is yes, Facebook is not a place to backup anything.
As KA forum is not a place to backup anything too.
Or any ‘social’ place in fact.
And even Google Drive or iCloud are not a secure place to backup anything…
You can rent a VPN (needs a bit of knowledge & money) but even here you don’t have a 100% guarantee for your data integrity.
If you want to backup, just buy an external storage.
USB key, external SSD, or NAS (it have a cost)
It’s not a 100% guarantee for your data integrity too.
At least, you have control on it.
On my side, I have backup on a secondary dedicated HDD in my tower, then a backup copy on NAS with 2 HDD mounted in RAID 1, and finally a backup copy of really important data on a VPN (for the worst case: thief or apartment destroyed in a fire…)
I know from experience that, if you reply to them explaining what happened, and you are sure you did not break any of their rules and can prove it to them, then they usually lift the ban. In case that is important to you.
Our issue here is, that we don’t know what happened exactly, and thus are only able to give halfway common hints.
And for storing your files, you should really go for other solutions. @Grum999’s tip is probably the most secure way “common citizens” like us can save our precious data. If it really has to be online storage, then distribute your files across at least three accounts and store an encrypted copy of your files with each of these hosters.
Ugh, this sucks. That’s what you get if everything is done by the bots.
There should at least be an option to apply for a human review without any additional requirements.
This is the scary thing about the social sites… Imagine you are a pro and your account is basically for business and promotion and they do you like this. It happens from time to time.
Nothing I posted there was ever deleted by moderation, but it always irritates me when I report something on Facebook or Instagram that definitely goes against the rules (like nudity, insulting a specific person or scams) and they never delete it.
this sucks. the same thing happened to me with instagram. Unlike fb, which demands your id/photo outright, instagram lets you sign up normally, and then you get immediately banned (permanent suspension) upon login. To get unbanned you need to go through the same process of course. Submit your ID/passport/whatever.
would be nice to have an account business wise, but any platform zucc touches is absolute trash. I hate that I can’t even try to make a new account because my username is taken now by a permabanned account.
