I’m still trying to find my art style. It isn’t finished but I can’t figure out what I would like to add to complete the piece. I love abstract, light and fluffy art. I want to add those elements as well as some shine. I’m stumped on how to add it!
Hi @SavvySav - Welcome to the forum and to Krita.
I like to play around with ideas by adding an extra layer that can be deleted if I don’t like my new ideas. If you keep your background (the blue area) on its own layer, and keep the character on another layer, you can insert a 3rd layer between the character and the background. That’s where you can play around with any extra elements and decide if you like everything. If you hate the new look, just hide or delete the layer.
Have fun!
Thank you! Im definitely going try that and see what I can create!
If you’re new to art, don’t worry about trying to find an art style. When you’re ready, it will find you. Focus on learning the fundamentals. There are observational art and freehand. Drawing or painting what you see (Observational) vs. from imagination and improvising (freehand). In observational, true observational, there is no style. You replicate what you see. In freehand, that’s where you improvise and since it’s not based on anything observational, that’s where and when styles come into consideration. But in order to get there, you have to know the fundamentals of art and you acquire that through observational art, which means, no style because you’re focusing on the fundamentals. Once you’re ready, you will fly in your own unique ways. (This is a suggestion, not a rule).
Great piece by the way.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Digital art is so different than using a pencil and paper. I can draw decent realistic portraits but I can barely draw a circle digitally! I’m definitely going to slow down now and focus on the fundamentals and hopefully the style will come, thank you !
