I would like to donate Krita in the form of Monero

I don’t know how to directly send a sum of Monero to support the development of Krita. I live in a country with an authoritarian regime and due to sanctions I can’t send donations through international payment systems. However, I have some amount of Monero in my account and would like to give credit to the developers. When will the donation page show addresses for receiving donations in cryptocurrency? Will they appear there?

With my own words: They won’t appear there, at least not until someone donates a Bitcoin, or two, or three, or even more… in other words, a truly substantial amount that would be worth turning a blind eye and letting things slide, overcoming the foundation’s principles in order to set up a wallet for collecting this donation, as this would bring Krita a huge sum of money. (Krita desperately needs it, but an intact environment in which we can all live is also damn valuable, and therefore it must be really worth overcoming this principle.)

The reason behind it is the not so nice impact that all this crypto-things have on our ecosystem, it is not very environment-friendly to run server-farms only to pay from time to time or park your money. Put a coin or bank-note in a safe, and it doesn’t need a power plant to stay there or let you access it, you only need a key. I just can not find where the foundation stated that it does not support cryptocurrencies and described why, but it is for the reason I described above.
And the foundation is not known for its fickleness, it is highly reliable.

I can try to exchange monero for a cryptocurrency with the PoS algorithm and donate it. But I think it doesn’t make sense anymore, since the foundation is not going to accept such donations. :face_without_mouth:

That’s right. You’re far from the first, but as you can see on Krita’s homepage, it’s not offered.

If you want to just do a one time donation, buying Krita on Steam or Windows/Mac App-Store could be a way, if they’re available to you. Sure these stores will take a cut (and it can only be done a single time) but it’s still better than nothing.

If you know a trustworthy (and technically savvy) contact person that lives in a non-authoritan system, you could send the Monero or other cryprocurrency to them and they could donate the money via usual bank transfer or any of the offered methods. Now for Monero, I think some countries here may be suspiciuos when using that, as criminals also prefer to use privacy coins. Some cryptocurrency exchanges stopped supporting it. But stuff like Etherum or BTC should be fine.
