Importing .brush files

Hello! I just downloaded a brush, not a brush set just one .brush file, that my friend recommended to me. I can’t import it to krita and I don’t really know how. I watched tutorials and the problem is that krita doesn’t even recognize the file it doesen’t see it. I thought it’s maybe because of the file type. The file type is just .brush and I thought I might as well ask here for help, if anyone knows what should I do please respond. Thank you!!
EDIT:
im on windows 10, my krita is version 5.1.5, and the brush link that my friend sent me is this one:

i’m guessing it’s a procreate brush
thanks to this forum i now know that there’s a new version of krita so i am in the process of downloading the 5.2.2 version

Welcome to the forum, @maniccaveman.

Please state which operating system you’re using (Windows? Android? etc) and the version # of Krita (Help > About Krita > the number is in the upper right hand of artwork that opens).

Then, tell us about the brushes you’ve downloaded. Are they Krita brushes? Adding the link would help.

On the start screen, there’s a news feed that you can enable/disable and that would tell you about new releases:

If it was a Photoshop brush then there are ways of getting the brush tip pattern out of it but not the detailed behaviour.

If it’s a Procreate brush then that can’t be done.

Krita has hundreds of brushes available so I’m sure one will be good enough

You can’t import brushes that were made for a different program.

Some people find ways of importing the brush tip file (the picture) but then you would have to build a brush in Krita to use that tip.

If you’re new to all this, this is not going to be a quick project for you.

You’re better off using Krita brushes. Here’s a good place to start:

I just took a look into that brush (it is a standard ZIP-Archive), but for the contained brush-tip (an archive in an archive) they unfortunately use a type of archive that is even unknown to universal extractor, the probably most versatile archiving software available. But the header is unencrypted.

It’s weird that they offer brush downloads without telling people what software these brushes are for. At least I couldn’t find any information about that.

Yep, there wasn’t any for that brush, only for another set this “Teyoid” named Procreate.
It’s like Windows users who live in their own (ir)reality: they almost always assume that we know which operating system they are using. There’s nothing else, is there?
