Might be because the newer dmg’s are in APFS format. Have you updated to latest available sierra version (10.12.6)? And maybe try re-downloading with another browser or from the terminal. (Sent you a pm with link to tar archive of the app bundle as well if it doesn’t work.)
Also another user reported that the latest version to work in 10.12 is 4.4.5.
