Intriguing topic again about the release of Krita 5

Greetings. I’m curious about something else regarding the release of Krita 5.
So I’d like to ask the developers. Will Krita 5 support bitmap image making and/or conversion to bitmap ?

By nature, Krita already manage bitmap images…
I suppose you mean “1bit per pixels” image?

You mean the windows bitmap file format (BMP) specifically or something else? Because depending on who you ask, some people refer to PNGs or GIFs or pretty much any flat raster image file format as bitmap.

Monochrome in Krita : possible ?

Greetings guys. I hope you’re doing well. I was wondering. Is it possible to work in monochrome color space ? By that I mean mostly pure black vs white, with grays not allowed, as they would simply convert to black. Is this currently possible in Krita ? The reason is because of comic work purposes. Working in such mode would allow to digitally build an image that feels like it was scanned in monochrome.

Where the 1bit/pixel image format is expected, especially “internal memory storage” of 1bit/pixel to improve performances and memory footprint if I understand the final expectation…

1 bit and indexed colorspaces are not easily possible in Krita, because Krita is built around the LittleCMS color management engine, which only supports real colorspaces.

Can we only expect 1bit and indexed color spaces to come in a near or distant future ?
