If you mean like this it still works by creating an “.action” file.

Copy paste this in a text file and name it something like “blendingmodes.action” and place it in your krita resource folder in the subfolder named “actions”. Change the <iconText> tag for whichever you wanna change.

With .action xml file placed in resource/actions folder you can edit the text and use emoji/symbols with the <iconText> tag or use one of the available icons here Krita Scripting School and use the ID in the <icon> tag.

In simple terms; Toolbox items are the most basic and universal interface for users in building up familiarity with graphic programs. Yet many of the actions in Krita that would be applied most often for basic adjustments, do not actually fit into toolboxes as one would expect:
