C for Colour Selector is great but I’d like it to pop up when I hold C, and disappear when I release C. Is there any way to set this up?
I see what you’re looking for. You have set C as the desktop shortcut for the color sampler and want it to work only while the C key is held and revert to the previous tool when you release C.
I don’t see any way to make that work. Did you know you can temporarily invoke the color sampler by holding ctrl and clicking on the canvas? The color sampler goes away as soon as you release the ctrl key. The setting for this shortcut is in Canvas Input Settings.
Hi @sooz and thanks for replying. Oh, sorry. I was assuming C is default for invoking the Colour Selector, i.e. this, but realize the default is Shift-i?
Anyway, I really would prefer if I could hold my designated key (C in my case) - select a color - then release the key to hide it. Feels more convenient than hitting the key twice.
I noticed (after posting this, sorry) that there’s a huge discussion about the Colour Selector going on in another thread so I might add my thoughts there. Just wanted to find out if the above was possible but maybe it’s not?
I’m so glad you posted the image. I totally misunderstood your question and got on a tangent about the colour sampler (you clearly said selector – I missed it).
I’ll poke around some more but i still don’t know how we could do that. Have you looked at this plugin? There might be something in there that could work. I’m going to look at it later tonight.
EDIT:
I started playing with this plugin and was able to display the colour selector by holding a single key and then aiming the stylus at the colour selector icon. It’s not exactly what you’re looking for but it’s the next best thing. It will take you a minute to figure out how to use this plugin, though.
