hello may i ask a question. in this youtuber’s video he shows a highlight brush at (at 25:40) [TUTORIAL] How to Color Anime Hair: THE SEQUEL - YouTube , i tried searching for thisbrush in krita, i tried googling the custom brush for it in krita, and also in youtube, but i couldnt find any. is there a way to access this kind of brush?
No, Krita doesn’t have many custom brushes for anime/manga.
But that doesn’t mean that some brushes can’t be made like this ![]()
are there popular custom brushes that look like this? i tried searching on google but i just couldnt find itt
Not that I know of, it would be a matter of creating it, it’s a “ribbon” type brush.
If you’re looking for a quick solution in the form of brushes exactly like those you saw then you won’t find one.
Those brushes can be made by controlling size by distance with a cyclic repeat.
If you learn to use the brush editor then you can make your own.
I quickly threw something together, not distance cyclic repeat, it’s random:
Here’s the brush preset file if you want to play with it:
b)Spiky_Band.kpp
Bring it in with Settings → Manage Resources → Import Resources
thanks for the answer, i did ask the same thing in krita discord and someone suggested me that, creating my own brush. this helps me very much thenks owo thenks thenks thenks ill make my own brushh, also another guy suggested me to use the cropping tool but it seems like that’d take longer to do
You could do it with an animated brush maybe with just the right amount of spacing.
See link:. Tutorial: Animated brushtips creation
Just for fun, I’ve quickly and roughly made three ‘cyclic repeat with distance’ brush presets where the brush size varies according to a ‘curve’ defined in the brush editor.
It’s not easy to make widely different patterns.
I used an ‘interesting’ brush tip from the default resources. Ideally, you’d make your own tall thin rectangle brush tip for these brush presets:
Here are the brush presets:
b)Wavy_Band-1.kpp
b)Wavy_Band-2.kpp
b)Wavy_Band-3.kpp
They are a suitable for use on a 2000 x 2000 canvas (I think).
If you increase the size, of the brush, you’ll probably want to increase the repeat distance and maybe the brush tip spacing as well.
