Is there a way to re-add the background layer?

Most of the template provide you with a background layer, which upon “del” key, restore itself to the default background color instead of cleaning everything.
I wonder how do i restore such a layer if accidentally deleting one.
(say you have done many works since then, and can’t afford any rollback)

The ‘standard’ Background layer is a layer with a default pixel that is white 100% opacity.
An ordinary paint layer has a default pixel that is black with 0% opacity, as far as I remember.

The only way I know of to make a new background layer, if you’ve deleted the one you were first given, is to make a new image and then in the Layers docker do right-click Copy Layer on the new image Backgrouind layer then switch to the existing image and do right-click Paste Layer where you want a Background layer to be.
You can have multiple Background layers if you like, which may be useful in some situations.
