Is there a way to use an iPad together with Krita, instead of a regular drawing tablet?

I have only been able to draw more, with the help of my iPad, in part because it hurts my eyes less, it feels like drawing on paper and it feels less confusing than using a pen and drawing tablet

Is there a way though, to use an iPad like a drawing tablet whilst seeing properly what’s on the Krita app and computer?

While I like my iPad, far as I can tell, the apps lack a lot of things like “seamless tilesets” functions or ways to blend colors for quicker color harmony

Unfortunately krita currently is’nt available on apple devices (yet).
You can run it on an android tablet.

Well, it’s a good thing I got an Amazon Fire I bought more than a year ago, lacked apps like Procreate which had dedicated vids, but I think it’s still good

Will try later on

That is not correct, or has Apple sold the Mac division to another company?

There were some reports from people using their iPad in company with their Mac’s, I think the name of the software linking those devices together is called “sidecar”, but may be wrong. But I know at least that this possibility to connect them is existent, you just need a macOS PC running Krita to connect it with your iPad.

Oh yeah, what I meant is that the tablet version doesn’t run on an ipad, or has that changed?

There is an app that makes it possible to connect your Ipad to your computer as an external screen, and thus you can draw on it with Krita. I’ve tried and it works fairly good.

But otherwise I think you might be better off with Artstudio Pro, or Procreate.

No, it has not changed.

Found the app for using your iPad as a drawing tablet: Weylus. There are versions for Mac, Win and Linux. As I said, works pretty good.

I’m using an app called Astropad. It has an iPad app and an applcation on my Mac. It runs via wifi, but even better when wired via USB. It’s super smooth, supports pressure sentitivity, tilting the pen, etc… Unfortunately they moved to a subscription model a couple of years ago, and it costs 80 bucks per year. Fortunately I’m still able to use my one-time purchased version.

There were two apps (paid) which could connect your iPad to PC or mac and which would make your iPAD a drawing tablet.

Last i Tried on iPad 6 as a beta tester and the result was less than ideal. Not sure if that has changed. Plus the aspect ratio is all wrong with iPad being 4:3 vs most system at 16:9 or wider.

Probably better off with Procreate or other art apps as that works really well

I tried Waylus (free I think) about 6 months ago, just to try it out. It worked really well. The only con I noticed was a slight lag sometimes, if I recall correctly.

I think I’ll try it, but I tried stuff like Astropad before, did the subscription, but seemed the problem was “logging in” for the computer itself

Some steps missing

I tried Astropad too, subscribed, still not sure why i can’t use it on my mac, may have used the wrong app downloaded from Astropad’s page

Unless, you got a youtube tutorial?

I wish to use it, after I learn how to better draw things on my own on Procreate

Yes. Here’s the documentation for Sidecar for those interested: Use iPad as a second display for your Mac - Apple Support

I tried this once with Krita, I think I had to adjust the pressure curve for the Apple Pencil, but otherwise it worked alright.

I’m using the legacy version, Astropad Standard, which is still available for previous customers. Astropad Standard (Discontinued) - Astropad

But new users, with subscription, have to download Studio I guess. And that’s available here: Studio - Astropad
