Issues importing ABR files

Hello everyone,
I’m having issues importing one specific brush .abr file to Krita. I drag it to the specified folder, where all my other imports are, and inside Krita’s F5 the drop down category for it is created. However, this category is empty and no brush tips can be found inside :frowning:
is there a way to fix this? Thank you!

These brushtips must be converted to an earlier Photoshop-ABR-Format, and the ABR’s she offers on GumRoad I have converted. If you don’t mind, you can download these converted ABR’s from my cloud.

Anna_Maia, thanks a lot for let us discover these brushes :slightly_smiling_face:

Michelist, double thanks to you for sharing from your cloud the ones you’ve converted :diamond_shape_with_a_dot_inside:

In a previous post (don’t remember nor date nor title & category, sorry), it was question about this
conversion to an earlier Photoshop-ABR-Format, something like ps7.abr format… (if any mistake, sorry again).

Following your advices, with abrMate 1.0: I tried to do that, but failed. Online with converters too: disappointed!
I hope I’m on the right forum (Support and Advice), the right one for this request: maybe you could explain us the way for such conversions?!?
I don’t use Krita to use the photoshop brushes, but some of them are interesting and I really would like to know the method.
Thank you in advance.

Hello @carinea, if my now deliberately “kept short” answer should not help you, please be so kind to ask your question about abrMate, which I, among other things, mentioned here and offered two download options, in a new topic to be created by you in the category Support and Advice - General Questions, this link takes you directly to that category, there click on the button + New Topic.

In abrMate you have to load an ABR file to be converted via the uppermost button “Open Brush Set…”, the Windows Explorer opens for this, with which you select the file, and load it with the “Open” button of Windows-Explorer.
After the images of the contained brush tips are displayed in abrMate’s window you have to press the button “Convert All Open Brushes to PS7.x”, when abrMate has finished the conversion the Windows Explorer opens again in the directory from which you have selected the not working ABR file before, and offers you to save the converted ABR file, which it enters with the prefix “ps7-” in front of the original file name in the file name line. You can now save the file there, or in any directory of your choice.

Now you have to import this new file into Krita via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Manage Resource Libraries…’’ >> ‘‘Import’’, or alternatively via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Manage Resources…’’ >> ‘‘Import Resources’’.

Remember, these are not brush presets and can’t be found in the Presets Docker!
They are brush tips, and after importing them in Krita you can assign these brush tips to existing presets in the Brush Editor accessible with F5 on your keyboard or Krita’s toolbar, or you can alternatively create completely new brushes with these brush tips.

If you are still stuck with this, please create your own topic about it, and there please describe exactly what you have done so far and where you are having problems.

The artist says on their page that they provide png files too

And community has adapted their brushes for krita and other apps. You can see they screenshits mention krita on the website. Perhaps try that.

Michelist, I apologize: I am following the forum in French and discovering how it works.
I take note of your advices. Thank you very, very much for your answer.

Raghukamath, BlessArt, thank you also: the links you gave lead to a complete pack of 131 brushes (Foliage and Grass).

Many thanks to all of you

Don’t worry about it, we all started at some point. Only if no one points you to the usual manners here, the way we interact, then you can hardly pay attention to them, okay, as an alternative you can instead read through our Terms of Service and Code of Conduct, there it is written how we imagine “living together” here.
The main thing is to have fun here in the forum.
