This seems to be very good news for KDE:
That is fabulous!
For my knowledge has one of Germany’s federal states already fully transitioned its IT infrastructure - from the smallest local government agencies all the way up to the ministries and the State Chancellery - to open-source software: Schleswig-Holstein. An act that in the beginning had some quirks and lead to several issues, but if I’m not mistaken then it is running smoothly in between.

…that’s a bit of an unfortunate name for something they use to be less dependent on other countries…
That is the name of the federal state, not of any software or project.

Ah ok
That makes is completely different, then. Sorry for misunderstanding.
Also, of course, even if a name is badly associated with something, it doesn’t mean you are now forbidden to use it ever again, especially if it’s a name of a place that existed way, way long before that. (It’s just that this particular name is an instant trigger for Polish people since even kids learn this name early on).
Unfortunately, there were places like that all over Germany back then, and if I could undo it, I would.
But since we were both born after that time, all we can do is fight with all our might to ensure that something like that never happens again. Given all the current shifts in global politics, that seems extremely difficult these days, but anyone who stops fighting against it has already lost.
