Jackpack (+Realwater) Legacy Brushes

Hi! I took these brushes off Gumroad a while back thinking nobody would miss them. Since then multiple people have asked me for them and I’ve been happy to email the files. But I figure it would be good to post them here. THESE HAVE NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR KRITA 5. I made these YEARS ago. I don’t have any plans to continue updating them. But since people want them, I figured I’d make them available here! Feel free to edit them/update them and reshare if you like, just don’t charge for them
This zip includes both the general Jackpack set and the smaller Realwater set. I feel like Krita’s watercolors have gotten vastly better since I made these, haha.

(I’ve never used Google drive for public links so if this doesn’t work, LMK)

No problem! Shoulda done it ages ago. Hope people can get some use out of them despite their obsolescence.

LOL, your bundles are requested more than you’ll know, and because of the forum-users requesting them here I’ve made them available in the forum. They gained 32 downloads in that year I’ve made them available.

A copy of the KDE Community forum-page and the Gumroad-Page is included to document that you offered them once on a “Pay what you want”-basis, I hope that is okay for you.

If it is okay for you, I can check your bundles for Krita 5 compatibility and in case they aren’t fully Krita 5 compatible I can make an “All in One”-bundle containing both of your bundles that is and will post it later this year?
But don’t expect it anytime soon, because I have a few other things to take care of first, and I’m not as efficient and productive as I’d like to be right now, due to circumstances I have no control over, a few projects waiting to be completed before I can start a new one. And I’m way behind on the things I set out to do.

Add/Edit: By the way, your link to Google Drive works!

I was looking for these brushes since I first used Krita, I had no clue that they were taken off because they were never updated for Krita 5, thank you for posting them again!

Just use a few brushes from the pack, seems to be working just fine. Those are some nice pens!

Thanks for that, mate!

Sure! Yeah they aren’t on Gumroad any more because I took all my stuff off there. I wanted to still provide them fully free since people were lookin for em. So I don’t mind at all if people share them! And yeah I’d be totally ok with that! Consider them free game to do whatever with. I can’t imagine they’d be busted, but I haven’t checked them all either.

They were taken off because I removed all my stuff from Gumroad, they were just part off that move. I just dragged my feet hosting them elsewhere cuz I wasn’t sure how to go about it. But I saw other people here using google drive so I figured that’d work!

So I spend a few days messing around with the brushes (I did not modify anything in the brush editor except the size) in Krita 5.1.5 and all of them function like they do with other premade brushes, If you want me to, I can show little “swatches” of each brush if needed as images, just give me some time

Cool! Awesome to hear they’re all working!

thank you very much, I was looking for them because I’ve recently changed pc, on my old one they worked fine but on this one I tried to download them via driv but they wouldn’t open in krita, can anyone help me?

Please detail the steps you took to add them to Krita (for instance, Manage Resources > Import Resources…)

Once you imported the brushes, what happened exactly? An error message?

 Hello @Lauscke, and welcome to the forum!

Even though I think you know you have to do that because that’s how the bundles were always shipped (packaged in archives), so you must have unpacked them for your old PC as well:
Did you unzip the two bundle files included in the “Jackpacks.zip” archive file you downloaded from Google Drive before trying to install them in Krita in the way @sooz mentioned?

thank you very much, I found the problem.

I went through

  • brushe setting
  • import resource

instead of using the resource library

( I’m sorry if the names have changed a bit, I speak french and I use a translator so there may be some problems )

Sorry for being off-topic:

Tu trouveras une traduction française à la fin du texte.

I’m glad you found a solution.

If you don’t use it yet and are unhappy with your current translator, you could try the free DeepL.com for your translations.
It’s a very good translator, usually with better translations than Bing, Google & Co - but it’s “just a machine” too and sometimes makes mistakes. Inappropriate words you can click on and get offered a list of alternative translations of the word, to swap words that seem inappropriate to you for better, more accurate words.

On the one hand they offer a website where you can translate texts up to 1500 characters and on the other hand they offer apps for Android, ChromeOS, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows as well as browser extensions/add-ons for Firefox, Chrome and Edge. Like the website, these apps can translate up to 1500 characters, and after a free registration you can even translate up to 5000 characters, you just need a valid mail address, and you need to create a password for your account.
Ah, and I just see with the French translation, the website can also translate up to 5000 characters after registration, nice side effect.
