Type of device* : Stylus
Brand and version of the device: Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus
System** : Acer… I don’t know the specific I’ve had this computer for years but its a 2 in 1 laptop tablet running the latest windows!
Description of the issue (you can include screenshots): For years and years I had a Bamboo Ink stylus that worked like a charm up until recently. One of the best things for it in Krita was being able to push the button on the side, and it would switch between a main brush and a sub brush (usually i had an eraser as the sub). I had to get a new stylus recently and got the current Bamboo Ink Plus, hoping it would last me another good 6 or so years like the last one did. However, now that feature I was talking about isn’t working, and I’m not really techy so I don’t know how to fix it!
As well, I dunno if its just that the pressure sensitivity is higher on this stylus but krita doesn’t seem to be picking up the pen as well. It often breaks in the middle of lines which is not going to be optimal for painting and such. Any help is much appreciated!! I’m still in 4.4.2 for Krita versions because I haven’t had a chance to update and I’m worried my settings are gonna get all mucked around!
My computer is a touch screen computer and the pen is compatible with it. I did also update the driver as per the instructions of the manufacturer. Do you think deleting krita and upgrading to the latest version will help?
It’s a good idea to update Krita. Do not delete your current Krita, simply update. Krita will maintain all your existing user settings. One thing, though, you will lose your brush tags when you move from 4.x to 5.x – not the brushes, just the tags.
When you updated the drivers, did you first uninstall the old drivers and restart your laptop prior to installing the new ones?
Re the brush toggle setting for your stylus - when you open the Wacom desktop centre, does it still show the shortcut assigned to that button? (I think the default is the slash key - / - you can look it up in Keyboard Shortcuts to see which keystroke(s) should be assigned to the bottom button).
It sounds to me like you haven’t finished the Wacom installation process. The Desktop Centre is the only way I know of to customize the buttons on your pen.
