Is it normal for brush resizing shortcut key to not work with the straight line tool selected? I use the the Shift key for shortcut in resizing my brush on screen, but when I select the straight line tool, the shortcut no longer works and I have to use the slider on the menu header. Am I missing something?
It’s probably because using shift with the straight line tool is for that:
Use the Shift key while holding the mouse button to constrain the angle to multiples of 15º. You can press the Alt key while still keeping the
down to move the line to a different location.
Though there’s a note under that:
Note:
Using the Shift keys BEFORE pushing the holding the left mouse button/stylus down will, in default Krita, activate the quick brush-resize. Be sure to use the Shift key after.
But it’s not working so maybe it’s clashing?
You might have to look through shortcut key settings to see if shift is being used for the straight line tool. I know in photoshop shift used to be the shortcut for straight lines while using the regular brush tool.
Press and hold Shift followed by left-click/touch and drag to change the brush size only works with the Freehand Brush tool.
This is determined in the Canvas Input Settings: Change Primary Setting group.
(There is no point changing it to anything else.)
The Shift key is used for various modification purposes (either pre- or post-click/touch) when using other tools, on a hard-wired basis. It’s confusing.
It’s the ‘v’ key that is used to temporarily activate the line tool (switching from freehand brush tool) and that is also a Canvas Input Setting.
Use of Ctrl, Shift, Alt keys and their combinations can be very confusing.
