King Buli of Hearts

Few days ago, my gf was doing scrapbooking using an old and incomplete playing card deck…
And it gave me the idea to draw my own deck card :grimacing:

So, started to work on it.

  1. Draft
    Defined some limits:
    – blue: outer limit with margin
    – red: outer limit for drawing (face can’t be outside)
    – pink: inner limit for drawing (face must be bigger)
    – purple: the mirror
I’ve drawn a Buli, it will be the base for all faces
Draft is mirrored (h+v) with a transparency mask to try to match mirrored lines matches…

  2. Clean it
Draw Buli with clean lines and resize it

  3. King of Heart
Dress Buli, don’t need to draw under the mirror line

  4. Test mirrored result

  5. Colorize
    And add some details

  6. Final result
    Mirrored, hide limits, add border

I think there’s still some work to do on it, but the basis is here :grimacing:

Still have Queen and Jack to draw
And for Diamonds, Spades, Clubs
Others (2 to 10) should be quick to realize. Maybe I’ll do something special for Ace
And need to draw a back for card too

It will take time I think, I didn’t imagine it was so difficult to draw a mirrored face

Still trying to find the style…

This one is more in the tone of classic french card game:

I just discovered the multibrush tool, type Symetry with 2 brushes and a rotation of 25° allows me to draw directly and get expected results, without having to duplicate+transform!

That’s magic :hugs:

Looks awesome! It’s great discovering new tools/ methods to speed up your workflow!

The Queen Buli of Hearts

Usually, Queens have a flower in hand, I decided to have a balloon instead :grimacing:

I had to move down heart under letter, the Q queue(?) was too close than heart, so I also updated the King

And using the multibrush is easier and faster than doing mirror manually to try to join mirrored lines.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Ace and the Joker. Will you be taking advance orders and do members of the forum get a reduced price?

Hi

Ahah thanks
I forgot that a deck card also have Jokers

I’m not fast to draw, but they’ll come

Ooh
In fact, I had the idea to print some deck for me & some of my friends, but I never thought to sell deck :money_mouth_face:
But when it will be finished, I will publish all files for free (maybe under a BY-CC, need to re-read licenses comparison) to allow people to print them if they want

Tonight, I finished to draw Hearts family

Numbers are classic cards easy to draw

And for the Ace, of course, I’ve drawn a Buli :hugs:

.
I decided to keep it without any coloring due to the big red Heart and the fact that usually only King/Queen/Jack are colored. I think it’s better to not have other colors.

Exception: I’ve drawn an alternative with Buli drawn with a darker red… But even if I like the result (it gives a better contrast on Buli, and I think it this enhances the effect of the Buli coming out of the heart) I think the first one is better to keep a unique color…

Any opinion is welcome
