KRITA 5.0 - LAYER STYLES - How to modify a simple design into something more dimensional

Hello, everyone!
Use the Layer Styles to transform any simple designs into something more dimensional. Layer styles are not only for texts. They can be used for images as well.

This is a fun little experiment that anyone can do.
Of course, I am showing you some options. Do whatever you want.
Experiment with the different buttons and settings and have fun.

Hi @CelticCoco and thank you for some good ideas and explanations for layer effects

There is a small mistake towards the end of the tutorial:
At 10:50, you say, “And I am going to lock the alpha…”.
What you actually did is enable alpha inheritance which is a very different thing.

That would inherit alpha from every layer underneath it in the group, including the drop shadow effect and any other ‘outer’ effects.

If that wasn’t your intention, you can group the ‘rusty metal’ layer with the design layer underneath it to limit alpha inheritance to just that layer.

Hi Ahab. I can’t believe I made that mistake! Thank you for pointing it out. I made the video between 10 PM and 12 AM. Was finally able to post it at around 12:30 AM. I shouldn’t make videos that late.

Thank you for catching it. Have a wonderful weekend.:two_hearts::+1:
