Krita 5.2.3 - Win 11 - Pen&Pressure issue

Type of device* : Display Tablet
Brand and version of the device: Wacom Cintiq 22
System** : Win 11

Two Monitor Setup.
Main Monitor Resolution2560x1440
Second Monitor - Cintiq 22 1920x1080

Same issue appeared in 5.2.2

There are two issues of which i think i solved one.
The first issue is related to pen Pressure. Other Software like Clip Studio Paint have no issues with it on the same device but Krita doesnt recognize pen Pressure.

Windows Ink is disabled in the Wacom Settings. Win Tab choosen in the Krita Settings.

The other issue was related to Cursor displacements. When i dragged the Pen the Line Moved away from my pen tip. i would do the strokes but the placement on the display where offset and it got back to being set when i reached the top of the screen. I think i fixed that by the advanced Krita Settings - Map to Certain Area where i put in the Resolution of the Cintiq 22 - 1920x1080.

Solution Edit : In my case it helped to enable windows ink in the wacom settings for krita and in krita itself in the tablet menu.

Hello @molambo and welcome to the forum

A difference between the resolutions in a two monitor setup can cause that sort of problem.
Another possible solution is to swap over the Primary/Secondary allocations of the monitors at the Windows system control level. However, that can put the Windows taskbar on the graphics tablet/display. I’m not sure if the taskbar position can be changed in that situation.

What effect do you get if Windows Ink is enabled in the Cintiq and Windows Ink is chosen in krita?

In the krita tablet settings, click on Tablet Tester then draw on the grid area with varying pressure. The tablet event record will be shown on the right side.
Then you can copy/paste a few lines from the tablet event record to a reply here.

I don’t use Windows anymore for painting but for my Cintiq to work well I had to create an application profile for Krita in the Wacom settings. There you also should be able to configure which screen the tablet should map to, so coordinates get reported to Krita correctly.

@AhabGreybeard i switched now to windows ink, both in the wacom settings and krita but the problem still occurs.

i hope the spoiler tag works, here a instance of the test
Edit: since the spoilertag just blurs it instead to put it in a own lil folder i cut a bunch of it away .

tried that out too, didnt helped.

i used the wacom center now and it seems to work with pressure via windows ink enabled but its still a bit wonkey.
strange thing is that it only works with brush smoothing - stabilizer on. i have to test if the same happens on my notebook where everything was fine.

If you want to ‘compact’ a large number of lines of text, you can use the Hide Details option in the gear icon:

Like this (click the triangle to expand it)

Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
etc

The tablet event record shows pressure variation. Did you see full range pressure signals from 0% to 100% ?

In what way is it wonky?

The best way of checking pressure control is to use the Basic-2 Opacity brush preset and test if you can vary the opacity from 0 to full opacity.
Or use the Basic-5 size brush preset and test if you can vary the stroke size from 0 to the size set on the Toolbar slider.

From the Tablet settings, can you show a screenshot of the entire Configure Krita window?

I only mention this because I don’t know if you’re new to Krita or not but not every brush preset actually has pressure enabled. This is a common beginner pitfall. If you already knew this, ignore this comment.

So its not just hide but hide details, thx for the info.

about the wonkeyness after pressure worked, i seem to have touched the pressure curve in the krita tablet setting. moved it back to basic and the brushes behave now like they did before on the other pc.

i now have to get used to that windows ink dot appearing when i want to move sliders…but thats something i can life with.

thx for the help to you two.

Now that you’ve fixed the pressure curve in krita, are things ok if you use Wintab in krita and disable Windows Ink in the Wacom tablet settings?

That ‘windows ink dot’ is probably the ‘helper’ indication that Windows gives you to let you know that you’ve touched the tablet surface with the stylus.

no, i have to use windows ink or i get no pen pressure at all.
the fixed curve just lead to the brushes with presure behave how they used to on my other machine. that was screwed up with the curve.

thx for the circle advice, gonna give it a try.
