Krita 5.3 problem with custom Symbol Libraries

Hello there!

After Krita update to 5.3 version custom vector libraries stoped working. They can be imported, but when trying to drag symbol to a canvas nothing happens, or just showing red dot (the one at the center of symbol). Preinstalled symbols (preset icons and balloons) are working fine though.

First I noticed this when my android version got updated. After that I tried to update desktop (Windows) version and happened the same.

I tried to find anything on this problem for a few days but no luck. Thank you in advance!

This is a definite problem with the 5.3.1 Windows installation because 5.2.16 does not have the problem.
I’ve changed the topic category to Artists Feedback &Testing (as you posted previously but then deleted).

It’s not all ‘custom vector libraries’ that have the problem. I have three self-made vector/symbol libraries that work fine with 5.3.1.
I also have ‘Nature ShapeLib’ and ‘Sci_Fi ShapeLib’ which do show the problem.

I initially thought that it may be a scale problem and the red square was the centre of a very large vector image. However, if I try using the Move tool then the red square disappears when I move the cursor onto the canvas. Strangely, I can rotate the red square.

If you drag just one shape onto the canvas to give a small red square then save the vector layer as .svg, the resulting file has no meaningful visible content but it does have a reference to the name of the shape.
With one of my self-made libraries, the exported .svg file content is ok but has some additional content.

There seems to have been changes to the treatment of .svg code going from 5.2.16 to 5.3.1.

If the developers don’t get back with replies to this topic then I suggest that you make a formal bug report at https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=krita (sign-up and login needed).
When you do, please post a link to the bug report in a reply here.

Thanks for a clue! I’ve made a bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=518607

I’ve Confirmed the bug report and provided a link to download the ‘Nature ShapeLib’ library so the developers can have a good look at it and scratch their heads.
