These makes me jump with joy every time I see them! Even though I know about the features, I still get filled by hype whenever I see a new features showcase in my subscription section!

Maybe when Krita 5 is closer to release, it could be worth considering to post them or shorter versions as video files on Twitter to bring even more attention to these great updates?

I tested the new resource management a bit today, and it feels so much nicer! Saving, deleting, renaming and changing brushes works perfectly, just as I would expect. It’s sooo much more seamless to manage and make brushes now! Thank you so so so much for the resource rewrite (and other updates)!

I’m glad you feel this way

The production of every video takes same time, so I’m not sure… generally May was supposed to be the month of Development Fund promotion, also by those videos, and then the Youtube channel will go back to its standard once-a-month video schedule, I think. Though there are some small videos for different features already, so I guess that would be a question to @halla.

Hi

Some remark (I hope constructive  )

Concerning this:

I already saw it, but I’m just unable to use it

The idea of a quick access is interesting, but the current rendered list, I’m just unable to understand which one is active, which one is inactive :man_shrugging:

If you look at my screenshot, one of krita 3/krita 4 bundle is active and another one is inactive:

  • Difference is very slight
  • I’m not able to says which one are active, it’s really not intuitive: the light one or the dark one??

Having active bundles highlighted with default system highlight color would be more intuitive in usage:

Or having inactive bundle greyed:

In the new manage resource library, even if I really don’t like the choice white frame around active bundle, we can see which one are activated

And in this case, if the same method can be used in both list to let user being able to determinate which bundle is active or not would be better too (have a consistency in interface to present the same information)

Also, if it’s possible to have list a little bit bigger
Just 2 items visible, it’s hard to have an easy overview of what is active or not.
I can understand that small screen have to be taken in account, but here…

2 posts were merged into an existing topic: Resource bugs in Krita 5

I just downloaded the latest Krita5 build (bc7f30a) today to test it. I’m using the appimage linux version and I have Ubuntu 21.04 - Linux alienware 5.11.0-18-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 7 14:22:03 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

1. Menus

Disabled menu entries don’t show at all.

2. No pressure sensitivity

Although the tablet tester clearly registers the pressure, on the canvas Krita uses 100% pressure all the time.

I have an XP-Pen Innovator 16 with default Ubuntu drivers (didn’t install anything to make it work).

3. No shortcuts

This was a weird one, but I had no shortcuts until I opened an existing image (PNG in my case). Don’t know what happened, can’t reproduce this. Maybe it’s just on the first open or something like that.

Even if I delete $HOME/.local/share/krita, doesn’t seem like it happens again.

You can see that there are no shortcuts in the File menu in the image above, they appeared after I opened an existing image.

4. The tag system is still broken in a way

I removed all brushes from * My Favorites to see if it sticks. It works, but whenever I remove a brush it jumps back to All forcing me to reselect * My Favorites, it’s really annoying.

That’s all I tested so far. The improved smudge brush is a big boost in performance!

@razcore, Using that appimage on Debian 10:

  1. Menus: I don’t see that problem.

  2. No Pressure Sensitivity: No problem with my Wacom Intuos Draw and Debian Wacom drivers. (Probably not a fully relevant observation.)

  3. No Shortcuts: All shortcuts are showing and they seem to work.

  4. The tag system … : I see that happening.

I have used prealpha on windows. Also encountered the first two problems. But the problem is: it only appears when I delete the roaming/krita folder of 445. If I keep this resource folder, these two problems will not appear. But the new mypaint brush of 5.0 will not appear either

Interesting, I did rename $HOME/.local/share/krita to krita.bak before opening Krita 5 cause I didn’t want the mess and I won’t try with my previous resources cause I still don’t want the mess.

It’s something to go on, but regardless, this shouldn’t happen.
