Krita can't load Memileos brushes in Linux

Hi fellow artists,

I’m using Krita in Windows 10 for a couple of years now. For obvious reasons I switched to Linux a few months ago and after some distro hopping I settled on Manjaro. So far so good. I came across the Memileo brush set recently and thought they could be a good addition to my brush library. Sadly that doesn’t work out well. The brush set is in the library, the tag is in the list, but the brush thumbnails didn’t show up.

It would be interesting to know if someone experienced something similar and if they could fix it, how did they get it fixed.

Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany!

You mean this bundle?

The first thing you could try is to restart Krita two times, sometimes it solves that issue.

If it doesn’t solve it, usually a rebuild of the Krita resource database will help. There are only a few situations where this does not work, for instance, there was an issue with a Linux library that couldn’t load PNG or JPEG brush tips above a certain size.

But okay, to try to rebuild your resource database, you must enter your resource folder via SettingsManage Resources...Open Resource Folder and then quit Krita because the database is locked while it is in use, at the end of the folder you will find the file resourcecache.sqlite and have to delete it (you can also rename it to whatever you prefer, like resourcecache.sqlite.bak, for instance, if you want to preserve it), and after you deleted it, you can restart Krita which will then rebuild its resource cache database, with a little luck you’ll now see these presets among your other presets.

What type of Krita install do you have? Appimage, Flatpak, repo, self compiled?

Thanks for the quick reply. I will dig into it as soon as I get home.

For the PNG issue, shouldn’t that kill the entire thumbnail preview?

I also forgot to tell that I’m using an Nvidia GPU RTX 3060 and the property driver. Krita was installed via software manager out of the repository of Manjaro (arch)

I was referring to the oil brushes.

Then try the AppImage, it is the only official Krita, we use it to rule out errors made by the maintainers of non-official versions. Do not forget to set it active/executable via the right-click Properties.

The AppImage works.
Thank you all very much for helping me out.

Thank you for the honor, but @Takiro pointed out the installation method, I just contributed a little background knowledge, nothing essential to the solution.
