Hello,
I am using Krita 5.1.1. As soon as I open it…it closes. Help!
Thanks
Sydney
Hi @Sydney - Yikes. When did that start happening? Did you get a Windows update in the last few days?
How are you starting Krita – are you starting it by opening a previous Krita document? Give us your steps, please.
Did Krita or your computer crash on you and now you can’t start Krita? Or was everything normal when you ended your last session?
Hi teach.
I was painting, closed Krita to have supper. Came back, and like I posted, when I clicked to open it would open, then close. I shut down started again, tried Krita, same thing. I deleted the 5.1.1 version downloaded Krita 5.0 it works fine. I do not think I had an update, seeing that the 5.00 works. Has anyone else had this problem with the 5.1.1 with Windows 11?
Take care.
Sydney
Not here…all working fine.
Most probably Krita database got corrupted. When this happens Krita closing as soon it opens is the telltale.
Did you happen to pay attention if the Splash Screen of Krita 5.0 had something written in it like: Rebuilding Resources?
Also you can trying reinstalling the version 5.1.1, if it open normally it would confirm my suspicion.
If this happens again you can delete the file resourcecache.sqlite inside the folder: C:\Users\Your-Username\AppData\Roaming
Cheers.
Can you provide Krita’s usage log or crash log? Those could be helpful. Getting Krita logs — Krita Manual 5.0.0 documentation
Other than the resource database, another possible culprit is the Recent Documents list. There’s been a few bugs like that recently with .psd files. (Try clearing the recent documents, or removing the recent document from %LOCALAPPDATA%\kritarc.)
Thanks
Hi, I followed the path
C:\Users\Your-Username\AppData\Roaming
but my C Drive doesn’t have a folder named: AppData. What am I doing wrong?
In Explorer choose the tab “View”, set the hooks like in the screenshot.
Then Windows shows hidden paths.

Hi Sydney, somehow I lost track of this thread. Is your Krita working ok now?
