I’m new here. If these questions already have answers, a link to the page or thread would be appreciated.
I’m fine contributing to the future of Krita with either a donation or purchase. I’m a little confused about all that though so let me just ask the questions:
Does buying Krita gain any advantage in terms of features or support? It seems like there is only one version of Krita. What you get for free is the only version. Right?
Buying Krita (it seems like it’s available in some on-line store) serves what purpose - as opposed to a donation or monthly subscription? I’m assuming buying Krita is the same as a donation. Right?
Krita 5 - How do these major revisions work? All free or is there payment expected?
Training materials: I see some interesting training materials for sale. What version of Krita are they based on? Also - no printed version of the user manual? No PDF file?
No. All it does is donating the money to the project. All versions of Krita are always free forever. So you could simply download the application from the website without paying anything and it would be the same as the payed one.
There is one small advantage to buying Krita in one of the online stores which is that the store will auto-update krita for you. If you download krita from the website you will have to download new updates yourself. Not a big deal but the convenience is nice if you want that.
