Krita could not redner animation: unknown error ffmpeg

Can anyone tell why rendering my animation leaves me with this message every time I try to render? I feel as if I’ve tried everything at this point… I have tried:

  • clearing my RAM
  • installed the ffmpeg that Krita itself refers to
  • disabled microsoft defender smartscreen
  • updated Krita to 5.2 version
  • setting the first rendered frame as both 0 and 1

The animation runs at 4 frames per second, 123 frames in total, 2000 px times 2000 px. It is aprox. 650 MiB

 Hello @ffmpeghelpplease and welcome to the forum!

Download the former version of FFmpeg, because there is an issue in the current version 7.0 from Gyan.dev. So you need to download this version to use it together with Krita:
https://www.gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds/packages/ffmpeg-6.1.1-essentials_build.zip

Otherwise, if you already have updated to Krita 5.2.?, you don’t need an external FFmpeg anymore, because from 5.2.0 on Krita has its own FFmpeg on board. The path to enter in Krita’s dialog to render animations and timelapses is c:\Program Files\Krita (x64)\bin\ffmpeg.exe
