I am using Linux, Ubuntu. I was trying to render animation for the first time, and the programm told me, that I do not have Ffmpeg. Fine, I installed it using sudo apt install ffmpeg. My Terminal says, that version is 6.1.1 (command ffmpeg -version). And I can see Ffmpeg in my files, in bin folder. And Terminal sees it too.
But when I clicked, Krita replied “Cannot find Ffmpeg“. So, what should I do? This has been going on for days, and I’m very annoyed. Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my native language. Please answer as detailed as possible, I am not very good at tech.
If Krita says it does not have FFmpeg, then you will most likely not use the one and only original version of Krita, the AppImage from Krita’s homepage, or if you use the AppImage, then it is a really outdated version of Krita. Krita is currently at version 5.2.11, and since Krita 5.2.0 Krita ships with FFmpeg.
By the way, the version of FFmpeg you downloaded is also rather old, FFmpeg is at 7.11 currently.
The problem with the non AppImage versions is, that maintainers of repository versions don’t seem to like reading, especially when it comes to Krita’s build instructions they seem to know it better than those who wrote them, the result of this is what you experience right now.
So, can you please try using the AppImage (← this is a direct download-link) from Krita’s homepage, just to see if it is the cure of the issue you are facing right now?
