Krita Files Not Showing Thumbnail of Artwork

Hi, I’ve tried everything I can after reading about it here and I can’t seem to fix it. I’m using Windows 11, I’m using version 5.2.9 of Krita, and I downloaded Krita through Steam.

For context I tried messing with OneDrive Settings, and Enabled and Disabled Native File Dialogs.

What should I do to fix it cause I’m honestly stuck

Where are they not showing? In Windows file browser or in Krita’s?

In Windows you sometimes have to “optimize folder for images”, it’s in the folders properties.

Windows, the Krita previews are fine. Its just Windows but I’ll see if I can do that

Update, it didn’t work but I’ll keep trying

 Hello @LastelleCrea, and welcome to the forum!

If you have your Krita files saved in a folder synchronized with OneDrive you’ll usually have issues.

One good tip is found here:

I was trying that but I can’t find the “Files on Demand” thing. I admit I’m not very tech savvy so I might need to go look up where to find that setting in One Drive. Thank you though! And I’ll keep trying!

Aside from the thumbnails, one drive also likes to completely destroy files, Krita files especially. It’s good practice to never work directly on a file in one drive.

You will find it in OneDrive if you do a RMB ( right mouse button click) on your OneDrive symbol in the system tray of Windows, then do a LMB on the gear icon in the upper right, select settings, in the opening dialog select “Synchronizing and saving” (that may be different named, it is translated from German version of OneDrive, it is the topmost option on the left), then on the right side go down to “Extended Settings” (again translated, you will find it I guess), and there you will find “Files on Demand”.

I’m going to move the folder off One Drive. So that “might” just might fix it. Fingers crossed though

Is Krita Windows Shell Extension add-on included in Steam Krita installer?

Where can I see if it did or not? I admit I don’t know where to look for that

Okay downloaded the Windows Shell Extension and it worked!!! Thank you!!! I’m very happy that its working now! Heck yes!!!
