I’m having an issue where Krita does not boot when I have my display tablet on and connected to my laptop. It would only boot when I turn off/disconnect the tablet, then I can move the window onto the display screen. Is there anyway to fix this? It’s pretty inconvenient to turn off my display and then turn it back on and wait for my monitors to update every time I want to draw.

I reinstalled the XPPen driver and Krita several times to no avail. I also tested with the trial version of CSP and the older free version of Medibang Paint Pro. CSP doesn’t open when my display tablet is on but Medibang Pro does, for some reason?? I checked the logs in Krita, but there’s no log of the software opening and then crashing, it only shows successful attempts when nothing was connected. I tried opening the software with the tablet mirroring the main display and as a 2nd monitor and it didn’t work in both instances.

Krita works just fine after booting and then turning on the display to draw, it’s just loading it up is weird.

 Hello @et-alias, and welcome to the forum!

You can try to make your tablet the first display in the Windows settings. I guess it is named Display settings on an English-language Windows when you do a right mouse click on your empty desktop. There, simply select the tablet from the displays shown and look down for the option to make it your first/second display.

Hi Michelist, I appreciate the welcome!

It’s the same result, Krita won’t open unless the tablet is turned off or disconnected. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Perhaps there is a way around it: We recently had a user who couldn’t start Krita from the taskbar but could from the desktop or vice versa (I would also try the start menu). Can you start Krita from a different location when your tablet is plugged in/switched on?
If that doesn’t work, we have to hope for the expertise of others, because here I’m clueless.

I changed the location where the HDMI was plugged in and it works now! I initially had connected everything through my docking station for a cleaner set up. I tested it with just directly plugging it to my computer and it worked immediately. I’m not sure why this is the case, but regardless, I appreciate the help!
