Basically it doesn’t open, right when it’s about to launch it crashes and it says : Extract: error writing to file
C:\Users\Eleve\AppData\Local\Temp(something that starts with “ns” then has random numbers that changers everytime I open it)\LangDLL.dll
Hello @Meyeuwa and welcome to the forum!
Your case seems to one of the extremely few where an uninstallation, followed from a full power off reboot with subsequent reinstallation, and, just to be sure, the next full power off reboot¹, may help.
Be sure to have hibernation and sleep mode disabled, these disallow a full clean reboot because they store parts of your session or even your complete RAM content plus pagefile on disk for a faster reboot time, which is contraindicated here.
But something I find “strange”, and that is a part of the path you gave us. For my understanding, it has to be
c:\Users\Eleve\AppData\Local\Temp\ns?????.tmp\...
have you overlooked that Local in the path, or is the path you name:
C:\Users\Eleve\AppData\Temp\...
really shown?
Please tell us from where you got your copy of Krita.
Please tell us the version of Krita this happens to.
Also tell us your version of Windows.
Did your Krita ever work, or do you try to install Krita for the first time?

¹ Okay, the second reboot is computer-voodoo, but I recommend doing the first full power off reboot!
Hello ! Thank you so so much for your message. Yes, I forgot to put “Local” in the path file, I just changed it.
- I got my copy of Krita on the official website.
- The version I have is the latest one I believe, the 5.2.6.
- I have Windows 10.
- It’s the first time I try to install Krita.
I’m gonna do what you advised and I’ll come back to update on the situation.

Okay, good news, I found a solution ! I rebooted my pc like you advised, and I also deleted the content of the “Temp” folder, and it worked !
Thank you so much for taking a bit of your time to answer me.
With:
I meant to uninstall Krita, then shut down the PC completely, so one needs the mains power button to start your PC again.
A little thing I have forgotten and may help, would be to clean your TEMP folder before the reinstallation, this ensures that Krita can not access that ominous file that seems to be damaged in some way.
To delete the contents of your temporary files folder do the following:
- Press the WinKey + R keys together to open the ‘Run’ dialog.
- Type
%temp%and press Return (some name it Enter). This opens theTemporary Filesfolder. - Select all files by pressing CTRL + A.
- Press DELETE and confirm by clicking Yes in the User Account Control prompt.
After you cleaned your TEMP folder this way, that file hopefully won’t hinder you anymore. ![]()
Now you can try to install Krita again. And if that should not work, you can try it with the portable version of Krita, because it is functional the same as the installed version. You only need to install the Krita Shell-Extension if you want to view Krita files as thumbnails in Explorer.

LOL, as so often, I’m writing too slow. But I’m happy you found a solution for your issue.
In case of further questions around Krita, feel free to create a new help request.
And now I wish you much fun using Krita.
